The youth sadhana shivir 2K16 came to an end with a promise to transform, not change. The new born youth wing of BGSM took this matter with utmost sincerity and decided to attain its full dedication. As soon as an opportunity came onto their sight, a possibility to emerge as something, the Purvasha team didn’t miss a moment to grab. As the auspicious occasion of Baba’s birthday was on its way, the team planned an event to be hosted. This event was officially the first event of the Purvasha team, which was to be conducted in an Orphanage, with an aim to socialise with the children, who are unfortunate to miss the love of their parents. And for the team, it was the heartiest expression of love towards them and also the occasion to impart the life skills, which SMJI has taught us from our childhood. The planning started in the ashram office with a handful of members of Purvasha , which was soon joined by the youths from all over India. The plan which initiated in a single room, soon turned into a grand movement. The event got organised on 26TH of FEB on the auspicious day of Baba’s birthday, which proved to be a great success. This event gave a boosting kick start to the youth wing of BGSM – THE PURVASHA. So we, on the behalf of all the members of the Purvasha team would like to share some of our ecstatic moments in the orphanage in an aim to motivate and encourage all the youths who haven’t got the opportunity to get involved in this great event.
As we entered the orphanage, thought we should first organise these children within some time before starting the event. To our surprise! As we entered the room, we found that each and every child was sitting in proper sequence and utmost discipline. We provided them with homemade sandwiches, which were prepared by our team. Then we taught them aerobics, which was taught to us in ashram during Youth Sadhana Shivir. They liked it so much that they wished it to be the part of their daily routine. We made them participate in various activities like ‘Fit in the circle’, which at the end concluded with the lesson of team work and unity. Then was introduced ‘Chinese whisper, through which they were practically taught why we shouldn’t get involved in unnecessary gossips. Some of the moral values were also imparted, like not harming others for our own benefit with the help of ‘balloon and pin’. In this game each of them were given balloons and pins and were instructed that whosoever balloon is not burst till the end of the stipulated time, will be the winner. Then suddenly all of them started to burst each other’s balloons rather than protecting their own. The lesson they learned from this was- if each one of them would have only cared about his own balloon rather than harming others, then by the end everyone’s balloon would have been safe and each of them would have been the winner. We also made them play the game ‘dumb charades’ for fun and entertainment.
All the children there were extremely talented .They showcased their talent by singing and dancing. We had also organised a ‘drawing’ event. The drawings made by them were so mesmerising that it left us awestruck. At last but not the least, our team members sung kirtan, recently composed by Poojya Maa. The kirtan was so heart touching that it left an everlasting imprint on them. The beautiful day came to an end with the distribution of the gifts, which included T-shirts, geometry boxes, tiffin boxes and story books. We also gave them saplings and encouraged them to plant and take care of. Not only they learned from us, but we learned quite a many things from them too. The event proved to be a great success which empowered us to take oath to organize such events regularly in near future.
